Gorgeous weather, a great ride, a wonderful lunch and good conversation made it a fun day. Linda had a membership meeting after lunch to obtain suggestions and comments from members. Ideas were put forth to make the 2010 show season even better.

Halloween Show 2009

Some very imaginative, beautiful, spooky and strange outfits were to be observed at the 2009 Halloween show at Anderson's Arena. The boss goblins, Linda and Laura, made sure that everything went smoothly and everyone had a good time. Diane was the gate keeper.

Many thanks to all the folks who made this event a success: Laura Rose, Kae Elledge, Lynn and Steve Grasso. Thanks also to Lani Nakachi and Liz Gleason for bringing horses to the event. Thanks Kae for the photos. Pat KIng was very gracious in helping the kid learn about raising goats.

Youth advisor Laura Rose conducted a camp for kids hosted by Lynn Trouchon at her facility. Many aspects of horsemanship were covered. The kids learned about equine care, tack and riding. They particularly liked the challenge course which included some jumps. They are all looking forward to next year.

Chistmas/Awards 2008

Waikii was cool, with a hint of winter in the air, as the HQHA members and their families and friends arrived for the annual party. The clubhouse was beautifully decorated to celebrate the holidays and folks were in a warm and festive mood. The potluck food was tasty and there was plenty of it. Linda, Kristen, Lynn, and Laura worked to organize everything and it went smoothly indeed. Linda's photos were a big hit and were given as awards and gifts. The kids had a great time too and we are all looking forward to the 2009 season.

Waikii Trail Ride 5/31/08

Fabulous weather, clear skies and around thirty riders were off to explore the beauty that is Waikii Ranch. Pat King was trail boss, assisted byt three HQHA out riders. After the three hour ride a tasty lunch was enjoyed in the Polo Pavilion. If you didn't make this one be sure to be ready for the next ride.

Christmas/Awards Party at Waikii Ranch

December 9th, 2007. A lovely setting, a chill in the air, the Christmas decorations at the clubhouse, the careful preparation and a great turnout made this year's awards party a resounding success.

There were around seventy people that signed up. Main dishes were supplied by HQHA and the potluck turned up many more delicious choices. Linda, Kristin, Laura and Lynne and Steve worked hard to set everything up. The awards and framed photos were beautifully put together for the recipients.

Some members brought guests and it was fun to meet new horse folks. Here are some photos.

The trail ride on march 20 was a success! We ended up with 30 riders! It was a combined group of riders from HQHA, HIDEA,Hilo 4-H and HPA It was a typical Waimea day...wind,rain,sun...you name it,we had it! The ride took us up into the hills behind HPA and wow, is it pretty up there! The climb up through the pasture offered a great view of Waimea and the Kohala coast. And once up at the top we entered the peaceful Ohia forest. it was nice talking with riders from other club and I believe that everyone had a good time!

Healthy Horse Day

September 8, 2007. The HQHA youth (and adults too) attended a hands on clinic conducted by Dr. Lisa Wood with assistance from Laura Rose. They learned how to watch for medical problems, how to report a medical emergency to your vet and how to measure temperature and respiration. Everyone had a great time and we all learned a lot.

Halloween 2007

Everything from a fairy princess to the devil was on display at the HQHA Arena Fun Day. The costumes were imaginative and fun. The horses eventually all got used to having some sort of strange creature on their backs along with flapping fabric and hand held objects.

Regular classes were held with most of the participants wearing costume. There was pole bending with riders balancing a tiny pumpkin on a plate Judge Laura Rose helped the riders with helpul tips for improving their performance. After the riding events there were on-foot costume races and bobbing for apples.
